Hello NatureScapers..

In another place in time, I wrote about loon photography. Where I go, the adults often leave the chick near my boat and go and feed out in the center of the lake. They prefer to leave the chick nearer the edge.

Week #1 is spent riding on the back and some swimming. Into the second and third week (here) the chicks start to dive a little on their own. The chick was doing some diving in this area and popped up in the lilly pads.

Probably my all time favorite subject and I'll try not to OD you with these guys. Also, I'm at work right now so I dont have the exif info, but can post it later if any one is interested. sunny 22 verified by hgram.

Thanks for looking and any comments or suggestions.

Wayne,
Cool shot. Exposure looks right on. I think I would like a little more room - especially on the left side.

Dennis this is really sweet. You forgot the cuteness alert. Loons are also my favorite avian subject and I would love to have this one in my files.

A clear case of too much lens. Just send it to me, I never get that close!
Actually, I like close up shots like this so it's perfect for me. 8) Very cute too.
Did I miss the cute memo?

Lordy, how did I miss this one? Really a beautiful shot Dennis. The green works so well with the darker body color of the bird.

You're killing me with the loon shots. This one is special....the lily pad is the perfect touch. Ah....maybe next year I'll get to go see the loons. Until now I'll just have to settle for seeing yours.

Dennis,

This is really special. The lily pad is wonderful, as is the eye. I really like closeups like this. I have never seen a Loon chick yet.
