The smallest kingfisher found in this part of the world viz. Hong Kong; it's about 7 inches head to tail. The shot was taken today from inside a hide. With direct morning light, I got away without the need of fill flash ...

KK, Awesome bird photography here. Getting close to a small Kingfisher is not easy. The detail is great, as is the BG. I like the simple perch. I only wish he was in pristine plumage.

These are such beautiful birds - if I come to Hong Kong, can you guarantee getting this species on film? :)

Ha!ha! EJ, I can try ... Just as you know well there is NO guarantee in all bird photography I'm afraid :(

Alan, you have keen eyes! I too wished for better plumage condition. A good chance that he may be in the moulting process ... :(

Absolutely marvelous! It looks a tad wet, it adds some interesting textures to the image.

Kingfishers are very alertful birds, it is very hard to get close. Do you use bind?

See ya!

Griffin, you too have keen eyes!
Indeed this guy had just swallowed a small fish after a successful dive and perched on this branch ...

Beautiful, KK. A lovely bird with unusual colors and probably not too easy to get, either, even if from a hide. :)
