This is a second image of canaidian geese taken against fall foliage at sun rise. I decided not to crop 2 areas of sky from this image, I'm not sure if that distracts from the subjects. Image Technicals:

Canon EOS D-60
100-400mm @ 400.0mm
Subject dist: 112m
1/500 sec, f/5.6
Mode: Av
Metering: Center-weighted average
Exp comp: +2/3
ISO: 200
AF mode: AI Servo AF
Drive: Continuous: 1

Comments welcome especially on my decision to keep the small sky areas.

Dennis,

Nice shot of these Canada Geese. I would probably crop out the bits of blue shy, I like it better without the them.

I think the composition is much stronger with the two areas of sky cropped. This would work really well as a panoramic crop also. The white patches on their rumps look a little hot. I might have opted for minus 1/3 rather than plus 2/3 on the exposure comp.

This is a very nice image.

No, you're cool. Everybody does it from time to time. Actually, you are only a few hours early anyway. Don't worry about it. :)

I hope you have more of these Canada Geese images to share. I'm really enjoying them.

It's unanimous on cropping the sky. I too would like to see a pano crop here. At least 1/2 of the empty space from top would be great.

I can't agree with Bill on the compensation setting but I don't know digital. His suggestion of -1/3 compared to your +2/3 seems a bit extreme. For film I would think +1/3 for this scene. Some digital folks say -1/3 from the film setting, that would bring you to 0 compensation.

A lovely image Dennis.

Hi Dennis. Lovely shot, I',m also for cropping out the bit of sky.
It always amazes what a powerful effect such small light areas at the edge of a frame can have. They totally alter the feel of the image.

Very nice shot - I would like to see this with about 1/3 stop less exposure to keep the white's in check a bit.

Dennis,

Wonderful fall colors. I'd definitely crop from the top.
