Spent a few days at the SD Zoo in late Sept. working on fill flash technique. I was quite pleased to see the Woodies had just got their breeding plumage and spent the morning with them that day. Cropped 10%. Cloned out reflection of another duck and a few hotspots in the water.

A very nice image of one of my favorite ducks. I love the green water.
BTW - E.J. charges a usage fee on his patented green water. ;)

I'm sure that if the conditions would have allowed it you would have shot from a lower angle so I won't even go there.

I'm glad to see that you survived the fires there and hope everything gets back to normal soon.

Mike, a tough bird to expose over all without blowing out the whites. I'm not sure what flash compensation you used here, but I would have given it more. The Duck looks great as does the water.

Thanks for that message Bill. It has been a sobering week and many of my friends have been evacuated and one continues to be unable to return yet. I live about 3 miles from Scripps Ranch where over 300 homes were lost and could see flames less than a mile away on Sunday morning with binoculars from my driveway. Not cool. Unfortuneately my favorite getaway up in the Julian area and the Cuyamaca Park area will not be the same for years to come. Luckily my parents moved out of Pine Hills a couple years ago, which is a community in Julian, and learned just minutes ago that the house did not burn miraculously. I'm going to go wash the ashes off my car now. :)

Wallhanger material. Nothing I'd change here.

A beautiful photo in great water! I wouldn't mind seeing the duck a bit farther to the right.
