As I was preparing this for posting Heather says from behind me “I see what you are doing, you are preparing your 1000th post” I replied “I didn’t even realize it”. Seriously I didn’t!. It’s hard to keep up with the heavy posters while trying to keep up with the rest of the backstage stuff too. Though I have to admit that I am far behind….

Anyway, this is my state bird, but ironically it was shot in Ohio at Magee Marsh…It is officially a back-up subject for slow days waiting for warbler fallout.

Two of my images of these guys appear in Target Stores on the 200,000 boxes of National Geographic educational bird toys. Pretty neat huh? So, next time you are in Target check it out!

I love the little focused look and boy do those colors pop! I can't wait to see this at Target. Ditto on Bill's thanks. NSN has quickly developed a wonderful atmosphere of learning, teaching, and community. I love it here.

1000 WOW! Congratulations.

Very nice image. Can't help being curious about the bird's point of interest. I find this bird very difficult to photograph; they never seem to stay stationary for more than a few seconds.

Hey, I know that bird!

Hell, I even know that perch! Artie found that perch on the edge of the woods a few years back. I took it home at the end of May and touched up some bright spots with a little stain. I took it back to Magee the following May (yeah, I used it in the back yard in between :) ).

That second season the perch went MIA, AWOL. Someone swiped my perch!! Are you sure you didn't shoot this in Maryland?! :P I've been looking for that perch to show up here in a post....

Love the curious pose, definitely eyeing that orange!

Wow! What a perch! And the bird ain't bad either!! Double wow for the bird!! The colors are visciously bright and beautiful. No wonder Target picked this species. :)
