Taken earlier this year, and I do not have the techs for this one. I do not like the OOF leaf in the lower left, but if I cropped it out, this would be way to tight. Also, I wished the head was turned a bit more toward me, but that was not going to happen.

All comments and suggestions welcome.

Sue,

Welcome to NSN.

I believe that's another bird in the background, not a leaf. Female House Finches?

You handled the sidelighting well here. A little fill flash would have balanced this out a bit more. Good sharp detail and a nice background.

We look forward to more of your posts.

You are correct Alan, it is another little bird (House Sparrow). I think my eyes are going or I really do need a new monitor  . I also need a flash unit.

Thank you for your comments.

Sue, there's very nice detail here. I would surely keep working this species as in their abundance, they make for good practice. :)

Thanks Juli

I do practice on these and the male as well. Like you said, they are plentiful and love to pose for me. Since I shoot digital, it makes it nice :). Someone once told me that the subject was not important, how you capture it with your camera is.

All you need is a head turn :) I would suggest setting up a cleaner perch above your feeders, but don't get rid of that great background!
