Captive- Magee Marsh, Ohio

D30, Sigma 400 f/5.6 APO Macro HSM @ f/7.1, 1/800, ISO 400

This was taken this past Spring during Migratory Bird Day. Out of all the rehab birds this one seemed to be the least thrilled with being in the public eye. This is the first time I've played with the Capture One Software and I'm not yet used to the various settings. All comments and suggestions for improvement are welcome. Thanks for looking! :)

Hey Laura, You really know how to work these captive birds. Love the exposure and the green BG. I wish he was a bit more alert and not so gupey around the eyes. I'd also like to see him either more profile, showing one eye, or more face-on showing two eyes. The detail is amazing.

I love the colors and detail of this owl!!!! VERY nice..I agree that some more eye action would be nice, but it is still a great shot!!!

Laura,

A nice sharp closeup and clean BG, the lack of both eyes causes one to look closely to understand the features. Seems to be a very slight magenta cast to the whites.

He's in immaculate feather condition. A sign that he is well cared for. This image has such great detail to it that the fineness of the feathers shows very well. I do what Ken mentioned about looking for more information due to the head position.

He's a pretty bird and that shows well in your image. Very nice!!

I agree with the comments of...2 eyes or 1. Still...this is so filled with detail and is gorgeous. I haven't invested in Capture One yet (waiting for the Mac version) but I will be most interested to see how it works out for you. You've cetainly done well with it so far. Excellent image.

Laura, this is very nice as is. I do agree about the eye(s) but would love this in my files as is. It's an interesting perspective on an interesting bird.

Sweet detail Laura, love the BG and exposure too.

I agree with Alan in wanting either a more face on shot or a stronger profile. As is I am searching for the other eye.

There were rehab raptors at Magee on IMBD? I only saw warblers!!

Nice Job!
