Virginia Rail

Anahuac NWR, Upper Texas Coast

Nikon F5, 600/4, 1.4x, Sensia 100.

Not the easiest bird to see in the open. I had nice evening light and was sitting at the right place at the right time. I got lucky. I wish you could see the slide of this.

Absolutely fabulous!

You were very lucky. I've never managed to see a rail in real life yet.

Cheers

Geez, Alan. Why did I figure I was going to hate you when I opened this one. I'm still waiting to see my first one....and this one just plops down in front of you.....with the most gorgeous light and water that you could wish for. An absolutely stunning image.

Super image Alan. The water colors, the light and the red eye all come together... Spectacular imagery.

Alan:

You could not have planned it any better than this.
I was about to kill myself when I finally found a nit. The image seems rotated a degree or two clockwise. I guess this is your version of Cindy Crawford's mole.

Not only did you come up with a motif shot, but it's a rail! Superb shot, great light, great colors, great bird, WOW!

I don't think you got lucky, Alan, you work really hard at this and it pays off with the images you get. Just my opinion. :D

Just amazing Alan. I love the view of this guy in the open and that water is gorgeous. I also really like the bird's body position here.

This is no longer an elusive bird. You've raised the bar again. Great light.
