(Mountain Bluebird) Bosque de Apache, New Mexico

Since I've only been photographing birds for about a year, I really don't have a big selection of images with fall colors. I went to Bosque last year will after peak color so image from there only look like they have fall colors when taken late in the afternoon or early in the morning.

This image is arguably my best image from Bosque and was taken on the last day I was there late in the afternoon. I guess I learned something from all the days I spent with Greg during that trip and I'm looking forward to doing it again this year.

Tripod mounted Nikon D1H, 500mm AFS F4.0, TC-14EII, ISO 200, Manual, 1/325 @ F9, SB-80DX BB. Full width, cropped to 5:4. Used Velvia action in photoshop.

Looking at this bird on my monitor it's hard to believe the bird was not painted in. Incredible blue. Most unique and striking colors I have seen. Great job

That blue just glows! Amazing! I have LOTS of Mt. Bluebird photos but the blue on them doesn't shimmer like this one. Maybe its the angle of the light?

I also really like the composition. Great photo!

Beautiful. Excellent colors, pose and detail. All those geese and you settled for a Bluebird? Great shot.

Tony:
What a beautiful, clean image. It's amazing how bright the blues are in what seems to be very warm light. Love the gradient in the sky.
