Taken this morning at the feeder. I couldn't believe it when this tree cricket (probably a Four-spotted tree cricket) walked right into view with this female Hairy woodpecker. All I had time to do was to hit the shutter release. As you can see the woodpecker was already in motion. I couldn't tell if the tree cricket ended up as breakfast or not.
EOS 1Ds, 500 mm f/4 IS, 1.4XTC, 25mm extension, -.7 EV, ISO 200, FF with BB at -1.7. In PS: levels, USM, cropped to remove the suet feeder just above the woodpecker's head.
Comments welcome,

Fun shot - Could be titled 'guess who's coming for dinner?'
I gathered up some perches today for my winter feeder photo studio. It's that time of year again.

The impending doom is captured very well. The motion blur really tells the story. Composition and technicals are great.

A very nice action shot!!

Will,

A nice action shot, the insect is a large part of this story. I think I would prefer it without the blur, but nice as is.

You have a real jewel here. I'd say there is one less cricket in the world after this shot. Very nice capture.
