While in Florida in August I visited Gatorland. There were Cattle Egrets, and many other egrets/herons everywhere. This was after the breeding season for most things but there were still lots of young cattle egrets and one young Little Blue that I also photographed. This guy was sitting quietly nestled in the center of a tree only a few feet off the path. There was no angle to be had such that I could get anything but head shots (He was literally that close. I tried taking a few shots with my 17-40L but I didn't really like the wide angle as much as the closeup).

What a cool shot!!!! Despite not being able to get any different angles, it is still a super capture!!!!

A beauty! Exposure is perfect and the open bill adds to the image. Very nice.

I really like the open bill and hairdo here! I can't imagine being this close to a Cattle Egret! :) It might be just be me but I think this looks a little oversharpened on my monitor.

Hey Chris. Very nice headshot with great detail and exposure. I'm with Laura, It looks a bit oversharpened.

Nice portrait. Whites are right on. A bit oversharpened IMO.

Looks like a fine head shot to me. I agree with Laura that it's over sharpened as presented here.
