In Portugal Cranes are very shy and usually they take off at 300 meters or more with the photographer inside a car. So, believe it or not this is pretty close.
Obviously an image that I'm not particularly proud of, but with so many Sand Hill Crane images, I thought it might be interesting to share this ones for a change.

Alexandre,

I think this might be stronger if you cropped down past the dark trees. It also looks like it's tilted slightly.

Please try to post the equipment and techs used, so we may be able to offer a better critque and learn more from your work. Nice photo.

I'm not sure if it's tilted, because the ground wasn't leveled.

I think I was using Velvia, and I shot with a 300 f4 IS. I didn't had the time to put the 1.4TC before they live.

Thanks for the imput.

Nice little group of cranes. Nothing wrong with a habitat shot as opposed to close ups, I like seeing environmental images. Would have been cool if all the birds were looking the same way, but so hard to get just one to cooperate, let alone a group!

Might be interesting to try lightening up the mid-tones a bit, might bring out a bit more color and reduce the impact of the darker elements.

Thanks for the suggestion Heather, but I'm always very unsure about the right "level" stings in PS.
If any one would like to give a try, go ahead.

Very nice group shot. Congratulations for getting closer than normal. Sometimes you just have to take what they are giving. :)

The background looks a little tilted. Other than that I like it.
