There have been a lot of Phalaropes coming through the past few weeks, both Red-necked and Wilson's. I shot this Wilson's yesterday (Saturday, August 23) at San Joaquin Sanctuary, Orange County, CA. Canon 10D, 600 + 1.4TC, F8 at 1/500.

Jim,
What makes this shot so beautiful is its simplicity. No matter how hard I look I can not find a single thing to nit. Nice work.

Very simple indeed. I really like the soft blue water - brings out the bird very well.

The motion on this one is great, the blue water adds such great dimension to the subject.

Outstanding work Jim. Not an easy one to get all in focus for sure. Wish the head was turned a bit toward you but definitely not a nit.

The exposure. lighting, water, and, of course, bird are all lovely here.

Ideally it might be more intimate if you were shooting at a lower angle and the bird's head was turned more toward you, but this is still very nice.
