I returned to Ft.DeSoto yesterday. The surf was up and the wind direction had changed. After trying to get captures with the 10D
unsuccessfully I switched to the 1D. I was able to capture many images of royal terns coming back to land with fish. They would squawk incessantly if they had one.

1D, 600IS, ISO 320, f8, EV -1, fill at -1.7, about 20 % crop.

Comments and reposts welcome.

Gorgeous. I take it that the 10D would auto focus fast enough?
This is certainly a beauty.

Wil, You're correct. They were just flying too fast to get any good percentage of captures with the 10D

Awesome image, Jim. Excellent size in the frame. If I were to force myself to find a nit, it would be the wing shadow across the eye. But that is being too picky, IMHO. The fish puts this one clearly over the top!!

Another killer Royal Tern flight shot.

Another beauty, Jim. I was amazed how you got your last one with the 10D.

I like this a lot! A great catch for the tern and a winner for you. I noticed the shadow but it looks like the fill flash has greatly reduced it and given you a nice catchlight.

Sweet shot. The flash fill helped this one a lot.
