I am heading for Hawk Mountain after work today. I am hoping for a good weekend since I have been working way too much the last couple months. I had this shot of an Osprey I liked from this past June I figured I would post before I leave. This was taken while on a workshop with my buddy Chas out on Eastern Long Island. He said "Put your x2 on the 500 and sneak up close and try to get some closeups"...well maybe not the exact words! :P

If anyone is interested in the place here is the URL;

Louise & I will be there for the weekend if anyone is around shoot me an e-mail.

Nikon D100, 500mm AF-S, x2, Incident -1 on a cloudy day, Gitzo 1548, Sidekick, Full Frame.

Wow, fantastic shot, George. I love the position of the talons and how you fit all the open tail feathers in the frame. I'm especially impressed that you got a shot this sharp using manual focus, or at best Nikon AF at f8. Great job.

This is a very dynamic image in that it seems to be paused for a millisecond in an onslaught. I like the exposure and details, too.

Gorgeous and dramatic shot, George. The talons, beak and eye are fierce.

IMO this is the lace where a tight crop and clipping works by emphsiziing the action. Well seen and a good dramatic presentation. I even like the small "V" separating the two wings.

George,

Intense action image. It's easy to see why the fish don't have a chance to escape those talons.

The exposure and detail are excellent. Those are some vicious looking talons.
