These gorgeous creatures sure take a beating as being goofy looking clowns, but when they take to the air it certainly takes your breath away. La Jolla, after sunrise on 1-18-03. Cropped less than 10%.

I wish I had known more about avian photography in April 02 when we were in La Jolla. These pelicans are so amazingly graceful in flight. This image reminds me of how in awe of these birds I was then. All I could do was watch them - not entirely a bad thing.

Mike,

Great job catching that wing extension. I can't even remember seeing such a straight extension before. Usually they seem to be all over the place and anything but straight.
