Things around here have certainly slowed down. About the only thing that I could find were some Coots at a local lake.

Wow, great exposure. It is difficult to keep the white bill from blowing out. Great angle and pose too.

Digital sure is the way to go on these guys. The exposure lattitude provided by digital allows for proper exposure on the bill and the dark body. Nearly impossible to do this right with film. Especially since the sun angle appears to be fairly high. Nice low perspective too.

Nice Job!

The low angle makes it for me. These birds are a riot to watch them chase each other around the lake.

Great exposure and composition. :)

Very nice, Lana. I love that you got him out of the water and at such a low angle - I've only seen one - and he was floating - surprised they look more "hen" like in body shape than duck. They are really beautiful ducks and he is presented here in a lovely way.

Just some "old Coots" huh? I think this is very nice and you nailed the exposure. Lots to detail everywhere. :D

Lana, Great detail in the blacks. It looks like you must have been down and dirty.

Lana,

This is a very nice image of a coot! Like Bill says, they are great fun to watch! Especially when they run on water!

Nothing wrong with an ole' coot, Lana (and I should know), especially when it's done as well as this.
