Lesser Scaup Aythya affinis

This was taken January of this year at Prospect park. On this morning it was only 6 degrees. It was quite chilly. But these guys are a lot of fun.

You guys have the most impressive duck collection. This is just terrific with a slight back paddle around to give you the look, click, you got it!. Well done SW!

Sheri,

Lovely shot. A little flash would have opened up the dark areas. Love the eye and the water is just beautiful. I'd like to see a little more room around the bird.

Very nice Lesser Scaup image. I find it difficult to get the purple hues as the birds here tend more toward the green hues regardless of shooting angle - its nice to see this.

Nice happy looking bird. A little tight IMO.

Lovely image. I really like the cooler tones in this one, the eye color really stands out well. A bit tight for my taste in the crop but maybe this is full frame. Excellent detail and resting pose.

Perhaps a little tight but this one is gorgeous....complete with great color and a beautiful eye. I'm especially impressed that it was handheld. I have no confidence shooting handheld anymore. You certainly have a great place to shoot.....can hardly wait to see what you come up with this winter. Great job!

Nice image with god exposure and detail. Possibly could use just a bit more "breathing room" around the bird.

Hi Sheri!

This one is just beautiful. I love the duck, the water and the placement of the eye in the frame. A tad more room below and to either side of the bird would be ideal IMO.

Fantastic!

You know I love this one. The colors are incredible. Not only can you hand hold steady but level as well.

Too cool. 8)

Sheri,

Nice work. It's great to see the purple in the head. You and Bill have some excellent duck images, but I'm just as impressed with your water!

Nice one! The purple shows up well and the yellow eye really sets it off. Prospect Park is a great place for these guys. Well done.

Sheri,

A very nice sleepy duck, we had 1000 or so Scaup show up last week.
