(Brown Pelican) Sanibel Island, Florida

This was taken one afternoon during one of Greg's Florida workshops in between attempt to take pictures of a Dolphin surfacing. This and the other images of the Pelicans fishing came out a lot better than any of the images of the Dolphin surfacing.

Handheld Nikon D1H, 300 F4.0 AFS, ISO 200, Aperture Priority, 1/2000 @ F4. Cropped to about 70%.

My repost was not very good after I saw what Chas did so I pulled it. After seeing all three, I'd rather have the green shift than what I posted to correct it.

Looks like it pays to have a back-up plan. :D

Great wing position. Very nice composition and crop.

Sweet photo Tony. I'm picking up a greenish cast underneath the bird on my monitor. Awesome detail.

Nice one, Tony!
I too can see some green cast on the bird's underneath ... Was this caused by some sort of inaccurate white balance setting at shoot time by the camera? :?:

A nice flight shot of a pelican. I see the ever so slight green cast as well. Very nice detail.

To my knowledge, green is not effected by the WB of the camera. Only Red and blue.
I think the green cast is present since the bird was flying over a great green reflector I was using. It's call the Gulf of Mexico. :)
The green is present even in the RAW image and my current procedure doesn't usually effect the green channel.

Loverly, Tony. Your flight shots continue to amaze me. Just a suggestion, but the ground is another good spot to look for birds.

That's an odd looking Eagle :)

Nicely done, love the underwing detail and catchlight.

Very nice! Good wing and head position and a nice composition. Not bad, for a backup plan.

I really like the pose and position in the frame. I would not have noticed the greenish cast myself, but can see it once pointed out by others.

I like this look at the bird with the wings in a bit closer to its body. Very well composed.

Nice flight shot Tony. Of course the water can turn the underside of the bird green. I don't remember what mine looked like from that day but I'd have to check. FWIW when I change the WB in my camera it certainly intruduces green if I raise the color temp above that of the natural light. For instance when I shoot cloudy WB under sunny skies.

I've played with my WB a lot during RAW conversion and I've never noticed a change in the green value. I'm going to need to go home tonight and play with it some. Then again it could be a difference in the way the Nikon and Canon cameras react to WB changes. I will be playing with this since I do have another image from that day I want to post. :D

Hey Tony, I like the image, and here is your pic without the green color cast.
