A follow-up to my previous post, this shows more of the environment, and explains the odd coloring of the water in my last post.

While White Pelicans aren't really considered common here on the prairies, they have been frequent visitors over the last few years. Last year I saw approximately 200 around town, including an awesome 21 Pelican formation fly-over while golfing just before my wedding.
Not near as many this year, and hardly any in this spot, I think the increase in fly-fishermen may have scared them off.

Another broad daylight shot, the few times last year I arrived at this spot in the morning, they were all sleeping, or inactive, well out of 400mm range. They didn't seem to go fishing until midday.

Very nice capture of what would appear to be unusual behavior. (Would crop the bottom to the top of the little twig.)

Awesome shot Steve. I've seen fisherman in boats lined up like this, I guess they learned it from the Pelicans. :)

This is a very unique shot. I love the study in perspective. Rich's crop suggestion has merit.

Very well done!

I think this is great. I love the view with the tiny merganser and the water color is awesome. The pelican formation is terrific as well!
