I have posted this before, but I thought it was fitting for the motif.

Super light and great action. I think I would definitely combine this with a linear conversion to make sure the whites stay in check.

One very happy pelican - and photographer too I suspect! Color in the water is a nice addition. Gotta wonder how long it'll take to digest that dinner when eaten whole!

Steve:

Agree with all the other commments. The action here is so interesting, I'd like to see it bigger. It would be criminal to crop off that amazing reflection, so I'd settle for taking some off the top. Then you could increase the overall size and put that mouthful right in our face.

I don't know which I like most, the great colors or the great action. This one definately has both.

Very cool. 8)

This is really action at it's best. My only nit....when I see a bird that catches bigger fish than I do!!!! Great job!

Excellent capture here, Steve! I love the half eaten fish and intensely colored water.

I'd forgotten what great light you had for this one! I think I agree with cropping it a bit off the top and both sides.

Thanks,
This was a fantastic opportunity. The pelican vibrates while trying to swallow the fish and then for a while after until the fish dies. IT was still alive when this was taken. It is funny to see vibrating pelicans swimming around.
About the linear conversion. I am interested in finding out how that is done. Can it be done with jpg capture or only RAW?
And how??
