great stop motion at 1/1600. No apparent noise at iso400. Would like to have seen some catchlight in the eyes and less sharpness in the background. But overall, great job.

Alternative - perhaps try converting to B&W? might increase the emphasis on the bird and de-emphasize the background.

This is super cool - I am moving it to the Birds Forum though but it will still show up in FFM as well.

Great shot, good detail and focus which I know is tough with a bird coming right at you. :)

I love this perspective showing the aerodynamic structure of a flying hawk. So full of life and so interesting to study. I like the little winglets? shown on the leading edge of the wings. Great shot.

Stu, The bird is awesome and although the BG is in focus, the fact that its all green makes it work. Its just a little tight in the frame.

Thanks Guys for the comments! I've printed this as a 10x30 in my office. Actually the winglets (I can't remember the proper term) is a deformity. In regular Harris Hawks, that part tucks up close to the leading edge of the main wing.

Stu,

Great capture. LOve the aerodynamic aspects of this. For printing I'd select out the BG and apply a blur to it.

You don't mention if the image is a full width crop or not. If it's not, I'd be tempted to rotate it to drop the left wing some in the frame and then flip it horizontally. If it is full width, I still might be tempted to flip it horizontally. Cool image. 8)
