Finally a Crested Caracara decided to fly closer to the boardwalk at Suter, the sky was clouded and that was the fastest speed that I could get, it obligued me to pan carefully which I think was a bonus to get the head sharp but the wings blurred to give some feeling of motion.

This is my first post here and I sincerele hope you guys enjoy.

What a cool shot! I love Caracara's. The sky is showing some stryations so I think you probably did some level adjustment in 8 bit mode rather than 16.

Welcome!

Great image to show up with :D

I might like to see a bit more spread in the wings, but I absolutely love the sharpness of the head.

Great photo.

You right EJ, I applied levels at 8 bit instead of 16 bit.

Juan---This species is so attractive. Like the wing blur; in fact, like everything about it!

Love the colors and the composition. Sharp head and feet make the slight blur of the wings no problem.

Juan, great to see you on NSN.

Getting a Caracara in flight is a feat in itself. This bird is sharp where it counts. The eye is not easily seen. Have you attempted to get more detail from the body and underwing shadows by using Curves, a contrast mask, or merging an overexposed image with this one?

It's interesting, on my Dell Ultrasharp LCD, the graduations are very clear. On my Mitsubishi CRT I can't see them.

Juan,

Congrats on this image. I've visited a favorite perch here in Florida many times and have yet to get them to fly towards me. Even went out today, but none were there.

Hey Juan,

Welcome to NSN.

Killer shot. I do wish for a stronger catchlight. This is where a slight fill flash would have brought out some detal in the darks and added a catchlightl

Juan,
Cool shot! I agree with the earlier comments about using curves to open up the dark areas. It's a beaut as it, but I bet you could really make is sparkle. :D

Outstanding flight shot. Details are superb, and ou get a great sense of motion with the blurred wingtips.

As usual, wonderful image, Juan. I like the scan and blurred wings.

You had done well with this grab shot given the conditions you described. Indeed it's head is sharp ... Nice, Juan! :D
