I was hoping to hit this local pond and get some of the fall color reflections on the water. The colors haven't quite turned on he trees surrounding the pond, so the water is still kinda green, but the light was very nice this.

Your critiques are appreciated

I like the angle of view and how sharp the head and bill are. The line reflections in the background are a bit distracting though.

When you are working this close, you should consider stopping down as far as possible. If you had set to ISO 200, you could have use F8 with the same shutter speed. If you were willing to let the shutter speed drop a bit or go up even higher in ISO, you could have gotten to F11. Why? To get more of the bird in sharp focus. In this case I don't think the lack of DOF hurt and because of the background reflections, it might have actually helped. But it is something to consider.

Great capture Bob. It's amazing what you can do with the right light!

Bob,

I love the pose and I *really* love the light. The green background is very complementary to the subject.

This is really pretty. :)
