Black-Throated Sparrow Roma, Texas

Nikon F5, 600/4, 1.4x, Provia 100F.

Not much drama here. This was taken under heavy skies. The BG is OOF cactus. I was looking for a clean shot of this small Sparrow in its environment. I like how the foot can perch on those spines.

Alan,

I nice pose and perfect BG. The cactus perch is great. Seems to be a blue/magenta cast to the bird. Interesting how it grasps the spines. Well done.

The slight bluish cast that someone else mentioned is probably just the Provia/overcast combo. It doesn't bother me in this shot though (as long as it isn't way overdone I think it really makes whites jump out).

This an absolutely gorgeous photo of my favorite (I think they are very sharp-looking) sparrows. Great job, Alan!

Outstanding shot Alan. I think this is your best post to date. Love the pose, color, detail and the perch with the repeating cactus OOF in the bg is great. Good stuff.

Another wonderful shot, Alan! I love the little foot grasping the spiny cactus and that smooth background is to die for.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the cutoff tail. No big deal but it should at least be pointed out. This scan doesn't look that great, I'm sure the slide is much better.

No drama.....I'd say having your little foot on the spine of a cactus is pretty good for drama. Excellent shot......love the BG, detail, and perch.
