This was taken at Jones Beach about a month ago.

Canon 1D 500mm f4, Tripod Ball head Sidekick Leveling head, Evaluative metering, Auto focus all points activated.

Wow! The placement in the frame is perfect, IMHO. The colors reflected in the water and the bank turn the skimmer is making really make this image work for me.

Your background almost looks like Van Gogh, and the bird is spectacular. It really shows off the extreme aspect ratio (length to width) of the wings.
