Northern Shoveler Anas clypeata

The only silhouette images I have ever made were over 25 years ago when I got my first 35mm camera. This week's motif gave me a challenge to go and make some more.

The higher shooting angle was deliberate in order to make that Shoveler bill more prominent. :)

10D, 600/4, tripod
1/500, f6.3, ISO400
Cropped about 15%

Comments and critiques are always welcome. Thanks for looking.

You did an awesome job with this one. I like the idea of showing the angle you have of the shoveler to get the bill.....and that water is incredible. Excellent silhouette.

This is beautiful Bill. I love the way you've captured the shovel and the golden water is fantastic! It also gives me a really good idea of how to handel a duck I can never correctly expose for. ;)

Here I go swimming against the tide again. A good try, with wonderful water, but spoiled for me because the bird's bill merges with the two black swirlies and gets sort of lost... Respectfully, Artie
