I had been watching this Killdeer preening and taking a bath. The next thing I know he was up and out in a flash. This was at the moment that he was just starting to take off. The next picture was only of his legs and feet in the air.

Lana,

Neat action capture. It's so neat just to capture one in such nice blue water.

Very cool action shot. Looks like he is almost weightless. Very nice.

Very nice, Lana! The wing blur is just great, and so is the comp and background. Good all the way around.

Lana,

Very nice shot. The exposure looks perfect. You had a good low angle and I'm glad you had enough room to keep the wings in the frame.

Great timing, Lana!! I love the action here. I have one like this but he's facing the wrong way. :(

You did very well with this one!!

Nice action shot! The super background and the slight blur of the wings work well for me.

Monique, I am packed and ready to go, I may not look like much but I am well behaved and can grow on you like a fungus, with no cure for it!!!

This is a lovely image - I've only seen these birds at the golf course. I didn't know they hung out in the water. I love these shots that show wings spread. Sweet!

Nice catch Lana! Nothing like open wings to really show off a bird.

You gotta love that short lag time on the 1D - with a 10D and its three times longer lag time you would have missed the shot. Very nice.

Lana,

A very nice action shot, I am not sure I have seen a Killdeer shot at takeoff before. Well done!
