Great Egret

Early morning light at Alligator Farm , 8:12 AM to be exact, Although not an easy place to shoot at, opportunities can be had if you look hard enough and if you wait for the right time and light, I like these birds back lit and I tried as well as I know how to capture what I had in mind!!, Just a kiss of high speed flash to paint the shadows!!
D1x, Raw format, Lens=400mm-f/2.8, Aperture priority, centered weighted metering, 1/2500sec SS-f/2.8, EV=-3/4, ISO=125, WB-Direct sunlight, Flash in high speed mode[FP]
Any and all comments welcome!!

Alex, Getting ready to carpe diem! Sure looks pretty while preening, but saving the plumes for last. Wonderful light with just a kiss is perfect!!

What a beauty you have here. I'd say the the "kiss of flash" was the perfect kiss. You certainly had an eye for finding the right bird in the right light with the right BG for Alligator Farm. Absollutely gorgeous.

Alex,

Excellent shot. The exposure and flash look great. I think the dark background works well here, especially with the foliage at the bottom of the frame.

Lovely shot, Alex. A graceful posture and an ideal BG. Check your time, buddy. AF didn't allow us in until 8 am, so you probably took this at 8:12. How's that for being picky?

Well, If I am ever to live in the straight and narrow path it is thanks to you my friend !! Like walking on eggs shells, every word, time mark , exif, exposure a date must be correct!!!, But didn't we got in a lot earlier via the back door with our special photographer pass ??, I am confused on this matter, but my Exif says 7:12 AM, Maybe my camera has gone Loco ??

Bet your A, my friend! AF normally opens at 9 am. They allow photographers to enter the side door at 8 am. Why did your EXIF data have 7:12? On the first (or second) Sunday in April, we set our time one hour ahead. Presto! 7:12 am is transformed into 8:12 am. It's called Daylight Savings Time!!!!
