Shot at Little Estero Lagoon last March just after sunrise. I've been debating about this shot for some time. Does it work for others even without the head and eye showing better?

pre-digital memory :? :
EOS 3
300 4 handheld
Velvia @ ??
full frame

Any comments appreciated!

Wonderful image as is!!!, Lovely porcelain wings with a magnificent wing display, the only nit is that it is slightly overexposed by as much as +1/2EV
otherwise is very nice, Congrats!!! 8)

This looks exquisite to me. It may be technically hot in places, but darn I would never have noticed if it weren't pointed out. The light is fantastic as is the pose, sharpness and the bird. I wouldn't change a thing.

It may be somewhat overexposed but I'm so involved in looking at the wonderful action that I didn't notice it either. I love to watch them in this behavior....just haven't been able to capture it. Very nice.

Chris

Wonderful capture. My only wish is that you would have been shooting from a lower angle.

Beautiful light. I love the pose. Based on my experience with scanning film, I would bet that the exposure on the slide is just fine.

Very nice. :)

I don't think that not seing the eyes clearly is a problem in a shot like this. The shot is a bit overexposed as some have noted. Velvia just doesn't handle high contrast situations very well.

It's a great shot though a slightly lower angle as well as a tiny bit less exposure would have been better, as well as a head turn. The light is sweet!

Chris -

Nice shot! This shows the typical behavior for these birds. The open wings makes it for me.
Great light!

Wonderful light and pose. I might have gotten the bird slightly higher in the frame since it seems to be going down soon. :)
