This cooperative Swamp sparrow gave me a op at several shots. I really liked this over the shoulder look. I have been to this location several times this fall with no luck. Finally, the light and the birds were cooperative.
EOS 1Ds, 500mm f/4 IS, 2XTC, at f/14, 1/160sec, -.7EV, FF with BB at -1.7EV, ISO 200. In PS: levels, USM, slight crop and spotted out some sensor dust.
Comments welcome,

Excellent shot of this little guy. Isn't it great when it all finally comes together and you get such a nice shot? :)

Boy, I'll say! I was getting pretty frustrated. I was so happy to see how these shots turned out.
Thanks,

I really like the detail around the eye. Even though the OOF leaves covering the perch are a little distracting, tghe feather detail keeps drawing my eye back. Very nice.

Wil,

A great Sparrow shot. love the OOF BG. I do wish you were able to get the camera a little higher to avoid the leaves. still, nice as is.

Nice over-the-shoulder shot, the foreground is a bit distracting but not a shot killer.

Persistence definitely paid off. These little guys are hard to find....and harder to shoot. You did an excellent job.....wonderful detail. You're right....it all came together for this one.

Wil,

This is very nice. The sharpness and feather detail is great. I like the over the shoulder look and the relaxed, puffy pose.

Wil, this is really nice. I love shots of sparrows, and this one is no exception. I like the over-the-shoulder pose.

This is very sweet! I love the position of the legs and the shoulder look, as well.

A lovely shot, Wil. The bird and BG are on the money. My only nit is the blurred FG leaves.

Hi Greg,
I thought that you must have been in the woods as you were MIA.
This was shot at a marsh in Berkeley County WV that is owned by a friend of mine. It is just 25 minutes from the house.
