This is my first image posted here on NSN, and what better motivation to start. Billl told me he loved my eagles images more than any of my other work. He always told me to shoot my own thing, to not pursue the styles of others, and follow my own vision with my photography. I think this image reflects that, and I wish he'd had a chance to see it. I wish I'd posted it sooner.

Bill was such a wonderful, wonderful man, and I already miss him. He was always an inspiration, a generous, loving, and passionate man, who stood by what he believed, without being self-righteous about it. He loved all forms of nature photography, but had a preference for 'anything with a heartbeat, preferably things big and furry'. His book on Eagles is fantastic, and his work was always motivated by his passion for his subjects. I can't thank him enough for all his kind words, his encouragement, and his friendship.

Miss ya buddy.

Rest in Peace big fella.

Regards

Carl

Carl,
An extremely nice, heartfelt tribute.
I like this alot and it certainly is different.
Did you shoot this sharp and then quickly shoot it OOF?

Touching tribute and exquisite eagle image - love the chin whiskers and the perfect catch-light in his eye. I'm certain I spoke with him once about his moose workshops and he was a delight, extremely helpful and encouraging, I recall. It was my first "photography" phone call ( why I remember) and he was a wonderful representative for this passion we call taking pictures. Thank you for sharing these words and your lovely eagle image.

Very touching tribute and superb image!!!

There is now another photographer who I will never get the chance to meet...First, John Netherton..then Galen Rowell, and now, Bill Silliker....The nature photo world has lost another giant...

Thanks for sharing the tribute and the image...

Carl,

Love your perspective on this photo. It's different and it works. Thanks for posting on the Birds gallery. We can learn a lot from you, so I hope we will see more or your great work. The tribute was very nice.

Very well done walkinman! The long exposure combined with a flas really allow for a dramatic image. Keep em' coming
