Scarlet Tanager High Island, Texas

Nikon F5, 600/4, 1.4X, Dual SB28 Flash, Sensia 100, 1/250 @ F13.

This was taken at a water drip as the bird was coming down to bath. I adjusted the BG a little in curves and removed one of the catchlights.

Outstanding shot.

I love the vivid reds and the attention the bird shows. I don't have to mention it is sharp. I'm not sure about the crop format. It is imo an odd cut, if you know what I mean.

Cheers

Outstanding, Alan. An inquisitive look from a perky bird. This really jumps out at the viewer.

Very nice shot - love these birds, especially the brass bill which you captured really well.

Wow! This guy sure 'pops' out at you. Not too fond of the square crop but it works OK. Gorgeous bird!

Alan:

Really nice job. I love the metallic bill, and you have captured the vivid reds perfectly. This is the bird that taught me it is just as possible to burn out strong colors as it is to cook your whites. The detail in these reds is great.

What a killer shot. The colors are spectacular....and the bill is just perfect. Good thing he wasn't looking directly at me or I would swear he'd fly right off of the screen and into my office.
