Fulvous Whistling Duck ((Dendrocygna bicolor))
Crandon Park, Key Biscayne, FL, on 21 Jun 2003

I liked how the sun hit this attractive Whistler. Although the light appeared to come from low in the sky, the actual time was about 3:30 pm. Perhaps this effect was caused by diffusion through some delicate leaves high above the bird.

I took a few shots with less DOF, but on viewing the images I found my original selection of f14 to be the crispest.

Thanks for looking. Comments, critiques and reposts welcome.

Sandy, This is so nice. the colors are rich and the detail is amazing. For F14, the BG is nice and OOF. Great shot.

Beautiful Sandy. I especially love the patterns on the bird's bill and the shapes of the negative space.

Another great duck here. Beautiful colors with the excellent detail and exposure. I don't think you can beat f/14 to get all the detail. Another fantastic duck.

Sandy:

This is really pretty. I like the softness, the wrinkled detail in the bill, and the OOF background that implies cat tails.

Sandy,

Very nice shot. The composition is excellent. You can tell this guy has some personality from the facial expression you captured.

I certainly agree with everything that has already been said and I particularly like the way the personality of this duck comes through.

Nice technicals which is to be expected and I like the "breathing space" in front of the bird.

Terrific! Great detail and even at f/14 the background is still fine. Nicely done.

A tremendously well-done portrait. My kind of image. Sharp, detailed, and full of color and life. You really stole this bird's soul. :)
