This is from Homer, Alaska this March. One of the most fun trips I've ever made.
One of the images I envisioned was something like this. The whites on the head are a little hot, it's a little soft and I would prefer the bird a bit more to the right, but it's as close to what I envisioned as I could get on this trip.

Super flight shot, Richard. The mountain in the bg is very effective in giving an idea of the marvellous scenery in Homer. Well taken with beautiful light.

We are tough on ourselves sometimes. However, it is still a heck of a nice shot.....so much more than just the eagle. I certainly would be thrilled if I had any eagle shot....much less one as nice as this. You "done" good!!!

Fine shot Richard. Sure a bit more latitude to hold the whites would be nice but the environment as well as the light more than make up for it.

I like it and might not have even noticed the self criticisms. Can't wait to get some shot like this in February.

I think you've already assessed the photo yourselve very well. I think the BG is very evocative and both mountains and bird say "power."

well done.

Like the dynamic flight pose and mountains in the background. Homer is a fun place, isn't it?

Awesome, Richard, if a bit contrasty. That's a thrill to be there and have so many opportunities to get an image like this.

Richard,

Lovely image. It's great when you can see across Kachemack Bay on a clear day.

Richard,

The background really sets off the eagle nicely. It gives it a sense of place. The pose of the eagle is great too. Excellent work!
