Canon D10 400 5.6 L Lens ISO 100 1/200 f13 3 flashes to the hummer , 2 for the background. Madera Canyon , Arizona. Cropped about 40% all around.

The black-chinned hummingbird male has a band of pretty purple iridescence below the black chin. The blurred wings are due to ghost images from the available light.

The BG color is great and unusual. Is it real or "memorex".
Seeing both eyes sharp and the purple gorget, as well as the BG color really make this image special

Richard and Sandy:

The background colors is a piece of cloth that I picked on a fabric store, I wanted to be a OOF pattern of dead leaves of a forest but wit all the flashing some psychodelic and unatural came out.

The background is interesting. While doesn't look natural it is a beautiful deep rose color which I like. The little bird is as pretty as can be.

The catch light in both eyes is cool - I actually prefer a slight bit of wing blur - makes it look more realistic.

Juan, I know how hard it is to get this shot of him faceing the camera and away from a flower/feeder. This is awesome. Doing the setups in the shade is the only way to stop the ghosting.

Good looking image, Juan.

The flash technique is very well done. I like the BG, nice inovation. Like E.J., I think the wing movement adds to the picture.

Juan -- This is a great shot, with the background color making it truly unique. Getting the bird sharp from tip to tail in this head-on view really makes it work.
