Sandpiper (which one?) Photographed from the mud while on an Arthur Morris workshop at Jamacia Bay this past August. Canon EOS 630. Sigma 170-500mm. 2X TC. Av 5.6. Exposure comp. -1/2. 540ez flash with BB -1.

As Jim said, its a Yellowlegs. f/5.6 is physically impossible on this lens with a 2x converter. The lens is f/6.3 at 500mm and then adding a 2x would make it f/13. If you were zoomed out a bit and were able to achieve f/5.6 on the lens itself, the aperture would then be f/11 with a 2x.

Tom, Love the low profile and the comp. I'm seeing some grain in the BG. The whites are a little hot and the bird is a bit soft even though he's moving like crazy. It does have great action.

So Arthur got you down in the mud, huh? I like the angle. I'm not sure I like the movement although it is interesting.

Thanks E.J. I was noting the aperture priority setting of f/5.6 that I had selected on the camera body without taking into consideration the capability of the lens I was using. Upon returning to my notes I found that I did not have the 2x converter on for this shot but the lens was zoomed to 500mm which makes this f/6.3. Thanks again for the correction. Tom
