This basic plumage Brandt's Cormorant was photographed in San Diego with the 1Ds and the 500mm f/4 L IS lens with the 2X TC. All comments welcome. Best, Artie

Art,

Great eye. Did you use the 10D to capture any closer images?

I absolutely love the bejeweled eye and, of course, the smooth background.

Artie,
I can't think of any bird that has as beautiful an eye as cormorants have. It really shows well in this imag. Nice shot.

Glad that you all like this one; I do too. KK, I do not have the original on my laptop but I am 99% sure that this one was made at f/11...
Best,

Wonderful shot of a beautiful eye. The cormorants truely have jewelled eyes.

Artie,

The eye is wonderful. I also like the detail you captured in the dark feathers.

Artie:

If youth is wasted on the young, this beautiful eye is certainly wasted on a bird as "plain" as a corm. It's like putting nail polish on a warthog.
That said, this is a very pretty shot.
