Shot with a 500mm IS, 2XII, stacked with TC 1.4, Windy day. Everything I could use in my experience to make this as steady as possible. About 100 yards plus or minus.

Cool shot. That's quite a pile of lumber he's got there.

Steve,

Nice photo. A little soft though.

Nice composition, you didn't mention exposure. What aperture were you using? I learned here that you have to stop down when stacking TCs.

The records show 250@f9, but this was with a 500 f4, doubler , 1.4x ISO 400
Giving me the equivalent of f11. I know stopping one stop down would have helped, but with digital I was shooting at the equivalent of 2240mm on a very windy and gusty day. I had trouble getting any sharpness at 1/250, inagine how soft from movement it would have been at 125th.
Not easy . Later I shot the head using a 600mm, two 2x and 1.4, but a friend's set up (I loaned my 2X to make it) with a heavier tripod, Gitzo 1549 vs my 1325. The conditions calmed only slightly when I shot that. It was not easy regardless.
