I hadn't seen a meadowlark in many years, so it was a pleasant surprise to encounter a few, last summer, at a new location. I didn't expect to see much in the way of bird species, on this very hot day, but as soon as I stopped my car, I could here them singing. A very picturesque area, with other species present, as well, ( including an Orchard Oriole- posted here a few weeks ago), so looking forward to going back this season.

A nice singing pose Paul. For my eye, I would opt for a bit more of the perch and less of the sky above.

they are running out of space like the (bobolink) but the new location sounds like a good place to start for the new-season, well done on this close-up captured and in the singing position, superb PAUL.

The Western meadowlark is rather common here in SE Alberta and is one of the first spring retuning birds. Nicely captured.

So nice to see- they are scarce here ffor lack of grasslands. Great find and nice singing pose.

Fantastic singing pose and head turn. I also like the perch with the pine needles a lot.
