A pair of Common Ground Doves photographed at the Laguna Seca Ranch in deep South Texas 29 December 2024.  1/4000 sec, f/4.0, iso 800.  A little better detail viewed large.

Great takeoff poses and reflections, Gene. Interesting underwing colors, too.

Love the duet here, and the clear reflections. Not sure I'm bothered by the clipped reflection, because my focus is on the two great poses, both sharp and entertaining to see. Background works great too.

Beautifully timed, Gene!
Would have been perfect should the reflection wasn't clipped.

Carol, Thanks for your comments.  I thought about including the entire reflection on the bird that was on the left.  I felt that the emphasis of the image is on the actual birds and not the reflections.  Also, the reflection on the right is much stronger than the reflection on the left.  I cut the reflection off on the left bird where the reflection was becoming "murky."  I know there's really not a right or wrong answer with images like this, you just have to look at it and pick the image that looks the best to the photographer.
