Northern Flicker

Canon D30 100-400 IS @ 400mm 1/350 F6.7 ISO100
Slight crop off the top, and right.
I think this is a hybrid yellow shafted/red shafted.

Going through my few good avian images for last week's close to home motif, I remembered that I shot this one fairly close to home as well.
I haven't posted this one here, and since my avian shots are few and far between I thought I'd post it.

It's a bit warmer than it should be, it was shot on cloudy WB, processing for sunny is too cool, somewhere in between is probably right.

I like how this one is framed. The exposure looks right on. It doesn't say you used a flash but there's a little catch light and no obvious shadows. Did you forget to mention the flash? :D

The light was very overcast, I did have the flash on, but EXIF says it didn't fire, I think it hadn't recharged from the previous shot.

Hi Steve. I like this one quite a bit, especially the composition. I do see what you mean concerning the warm tones yet they really don't bother me here. I love the splash of red showing.
