I'm going through older images putting together a program and came across this Willet, shot about 5 years ago near Santa Barbara, CA. I liked the golden color in the sand. I wish I had some frames with the reflection in them.
Canon A2, 300mm probably with a 2x, tripod, Sensia. Scanned, cropped a bit from left, adjusted levels to get colors somewhat close to the slide.

Cindy,
I love the color, he blends very nicely with the BG color, but does not get lost in it.
Very nice picture.

A nice monochromatic image, Cindy. A few tweaks in Curves makes it pop a bit more.

I like the golden background and the bird. I agree with Sandy that a small amount of PS work would really make this one sing.

Hi Cindy---like the colors very much; in the adjusting, I am wondering if you used a standard procedure of color balancing to match the slide or maybe tried several different things to get it to match? The reason I ask, is if it was the latter, that might account for some of the graininess. Or if a selective color was added or subtracted, that may look good in one area but bring out the grain in another. So I am just guessing some scenarios to try to offer a solution to my observation of graininess. :)

Great bg for any shorebird. The bird really stands out. Not easy to get them while they are walking along.

Like the posture of the bird. The golden colors make this a very nice monochromatic image. Perhaps a bit more curves to pop this one, but it is still very nice.
