Crested Caracaras photographed at the Laguna Seca Ranch in deep South Texas.  A pink beak indicates a very young bird and a yellowish beak is a sub-adult.  When Caracaras are fully mature, their beaks change to an orange color.  Z9, 1/2500 sec, f/5.6, 70-200 f/2.8 lens at 150mm.  I was about 15 feet from the birds when I took the image.

Better details viewed large.

Strewth! That's some interaction as the pecking order is sorted. (quite literally!)

Great interaction and neat to see the eyes of both birds.
