This is the Australian version of a Brown Tree Creeper. They are solitary birds or as a pair. They nest in slight hollows in trees and line the nest with soft material. Male and females are similar. They creep trees by starting near the base and spiral up to the top, then start again on the next tree. This bird was nesting and kept coming back to this perch after each feeding session.

Nikon Z 8 with 600 pf @ 1260. 1.4 TC plus DX mode.

F9, 1/2500s. ISO 6400
Manual setting and HH.

I am very pleased with the Z8 and the 600pf 6.3 combo.
It works well with the 1.4 TC and in DX mode if I need the reach.
I can hand hold it from a seated position and get good sharp shots.
For a 78 year old woman I think that is great.

KIM, from your image I can see that your version of creeper is bigger in size compare to the North American one, well done on this capture, P.S. about the age part I know the feeling !!!!!

Lovely shot Kim. I think you are doing fabulously well, especially as not many years back you had hand/wrist problems, so a big, big congrats.

This is super sharp. Well done in all regards.

Great eye contact and details, Kim. Interesting to see the differences compared with Tree Creepers around here.

A fine image, with the perch being a major factor in the appeal of your photograph, Kim. Quite different from our North American creeper in appearance, but ours has the spiral behaviour, as well. I keep hearing that age is only a number, and I would agree with that, from your ability to take such images as this one, and others posted here on " Naturescapes".

Such a fine shot- beautifully posed, and once again , a nice harmony of colors.
Very interested in your comments about the Z6/600PF. I am about your age and also love the combo. Had not thought to add a TC and use DX mode. I feel encouraged by your thoughts-, Especially sitting to shoot. TFS!! I haven't come close to getting anything like this yet-still new to mirrorless, etc.
