Back to the 180- 600 z lens on the Z8 from my recent trip along the Murray River.

This is the female Red Rumped Parrot inspecting a hollow that already has a female Red Rump nesting. We camped in this location for 3 days and observed a pair of Red Rumps inspecting this hollow. I was very surprised when I downloaded the files to see the nesting female. These birds mate for life yet there was only one male that we saw during the 3 days there. The male is bright iridescent green while the female is olive green. I will post the male next, he has the red rump.

Z8 with 18- 600 @600.

Interesting story, Kim. Makes you wonder if the second female just hangs out there or would like to replace the other one.

Very intriguing shot- got to wonder about the two females. Wonderful story-telling catch, and thanks for the info.
