With the sun on the horizon this Lesser YL held still long enough for one frame. The red light only lasts a few minutes, fortunately the wind had died down so the water was smooth.

The bird realy stands out against the BG with a very nice over the shoulder look and you caught the last rays of sweet light. I'm as already seen by many of my images a fan of negative space and might be tempted to crop a bit more off the left.

A beautiful bird and beautiful light. I think this shot is significantly overflashed as you have completely lost the warm colors of the ambient light on the bird. Setting the flash at -2 or -1 2/3 would have made for a much more natural looking effect.

Ken,

This is awesome. Love the water and the pose of the bird. I would crop from the left and I would also add some canvas to the bottom to give room for the reflection of the head. There's also a few lighter blotches on the right of the bird that I would clone out.

I was going to suggest that the bird be a little further left in the frame and then Alan suggests the crop from the left. E.J. right about the flash. I really like the background colors. :)

While I think the others are pretty much right on in their comments I do think the water color is just phenomenal here. I also very much like the pose of the bid with the little over the shoulder coquettish look.

Ken,

Great BG color and reflection. I agree with the comments about cropping and overflash.

Agree with the cropping and flash suggestions, but in spite of those it is a very lovely image.

Almost all comments seemed to be the image was over flashed. I feel what is seen is over sharpening. I over did the sharpening due to the head being a little soft due to DOF limitation. I have reposeted a croped selectivley sharpened version.[/quote]

Nice reflection...could use some more space at the bottom and less at the left. I agree about the flash which could use some underexosure. But..still nice.

Great shot, I love the ripples and water color. I'm not the only person who calls the BB the Better Burner. Sometimes that thing can overcook your subject, especially when shooting too close or at a large aperture. The repost is quite an improvement.
