Handheld from the kayak on another one of the local lakes here in BC's central interior region. For this photo, I was hearing a variety of birds in the thick reeds by the shore so I worked my way to a small open area in the middle of things, and waiting for something to happen. This guy landed just outside my minimum focus distance, and I managed to lean forward enough in the kayak to get a clean shot (of most of him anyway) through the heavy reeds.
