As listed as endangered in Ontario, I have had the privilege of being able to observe this woodpecker for the last two summers around our area. However, being able to watch the adults with the juvenile this year was definitely extra special!

An excellent image Amy, showing the two generations together. Certainly a very uncommon species here in Ontario- fortunate that you have them nearby.

Uncommon in my area, too, and I’d be thrilled to get such a finely feathered pair in good light for such contrasty subjects. Nice!
Good light,
Craig

When I first saw this, I thought it was "digital art" and that you had blended a black and white rendition of a red headed woodpecker with a color one. Very cool.

Great to see parent and offspring together, Amy. The background colors look great, too.

Great to have the adult and the juvi on the same perch. Excellent image.
