I had no luck with birds in Manitoba this time. My wife Marienna is still there and will have a chance to shoot Burrowing Owls this weekend.
I'm on duty, babysitting our beloved cat, Astro.
This is from the backyard.

Very nice image as always, Karl- great colours here. Perhaps your wife will have the good luck, with some Burrowing Owl photos in the next days!

Lovely capture from your back yard Karl. Marienna will be back soon enough, but this ain't bad for a back yard shot. (had a Sparrow hawk in mine a few days back. Sorriest looking youngster I've seen for a bit)....
Make your life spectacular!

Showing off those beautiful blues! The lifted leg adds interest. I think I forget how beautiful they are as they are so common here...and noisy!

Great pose for this cooperative Jay, Karl. Too bad the birds in Manitoba were not as cooperative.

Good Luck to Marienna with the Burrowing Owls but these jays are such a beautiful colour and this is a lovely image, Karl!  I am sure Astro appreciates having dad home too.  :)

Thanks Carol. It look like Owl shooting did not work out for her. Maybe next year. Astro was back to normal after half a day of my getting home.

That's a shame about the owls as I know Marienna takes some darned good photos but it sounds like Astro is a much loved part of your family Karl, as dogs are in ours.  I have had some wonderful cats too - my most special one, a little female, was sadly killed by a fox when I was living in Scotland.  It was heartbreaking to find her little body when she didn't come in for her feed but she was much loved and very loving in return for the years that I had her.  Nature can be so beautiful and so hard.
